On January 3, 2024, the Department of Accounting and Taxation hosted the fourth training from the series “Sustainability Ideas Generator: EU Lessons for Ukraine” within the framework of the Jean Monet module project “Transparency. Accountability. Responsibility. Governance. Europe. Trust. Sustainability” financed by the Erasmus+ program (101085395— TARGETS — ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH).
The event was devoted to the formation and development of the concept of sustainable development and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a global initiative that aims to create a better and sustainable future for the entire world. Organizers of the project, Ph.D., senior lecturer Oleksich Zhanna, Dr. of Sc., associate professor Makarenko Inna, Ph.D., associate professor Serpeninova Yuliya, highlighted past successes in the areas of fighting poverty, ensuring quality education, supporting health, and implementing environmentally friendly technologies, as well as focusing on the regression in achieving numerous goals, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and geopolitical instability.
During the discussion with students majoring in accounting and taxation, the organizers discussed the most important challenges and prospects on the way to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals for the EU and Ukraine. In particular, the issues of sustainable use of natural resources, social responsibility of business and the role of citizens in ensuring sustainable development were considered.
