KEY PROFESSIONAL SKILLS OF SPECIALISTS IN PROVIDING GRANT REPORTING ACCORDING TO EU REQUIREMENTS

Today implementation of international projects is accompanied by activity in social, cultural economic and other spheres of Ukrainian society.

In military and post-military conditions, especially when the country needs to be restored, the importance of such projects is of particular importance. To this end, it is necessary to provide the relevant specialists involved in these areas, which provide the reporting process, relevant skills and knowledge.

According to the European Program Guides, which specify requirements to participants and to implementation of projects and reporting on them allows making conclusions about necessity of possession of certain skills and experience to project participants. The requirements of the European programs define criteria for selection of specialists carrying out organizational support of the European projects. Among such experts, account staff takes a special place.

The experience of involving accounting personnel in European grant projects shows that such employees are not only well-qualified in accounting, taxation and reporting.

So what skills should such experts possess today?

  1. Cognitive skills, which encompass the ability to understand complex ideas, adapt effectively to the environment, learn from experience, and reason. Foundational literacy and numeracy as well as creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving are also cognitive skills. Skills in analyzing the project according to the evaluation procedures
  2. Socioemotional skills, which describe the ability to navigate interpersonal and social situations effectively, and include leadership, teamwork, self-control, and grit.
  3. Technical skills, which refer to the acquired knowledge, expertise, and interactions. Clearly understand the project approach and peculiarities of its implementation in each specific case: To have the skills to develop the budget according to the project, to understand the requirements for the use of financial resources, to understand the standards regulating project management.  To speak English skills (knowledge of English at the level not lower B1), which allow understanding well requirements of programs and to communicate in the process of realization of a specific project. Possess knowledge of tenders and work with tender documents
  4. Digital skills related to management, understanding, integration, communication, assess and create information securely and appropriately. And possess all information technologies to provide accounting and reporting on EU projects

So, today, accounting specialists should choose modern approaches to education, which would provide for the study of the project approach in the educational process. At the same time, they provided training and other necessary qualifications for their use in future projects.
