The government approved the budget of the Mandatory State Social Insurance Fund for Unemployment for 2023, which provides for spending on the implementation of active employment programs and providing Ukrainians with micro-grants for starting and developing their own business. This decision was made at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on January 31, 2023.
For those who have lost their jobs, the Fund finances the payment of unemployment benefits; receiving services for professional training, retraining, advanced training or career guidance, as well as services for finding a suitable job and other measures to assist in employment. For employers, the Fund pays compensation for the costs of new jobs; compensation of a part of labor costs or a single contribution to the mandatory State social insurance for the employment of the unemployed, including for the employment of internally displaced persons; payment of partial unemployment benefits.
In particular, the Fund’s budget for 2023 provides for 11.9 billion UAH for the payment of financial support in case of unemployment, social services and active employment programs, assistance for partial unemployment, 1.8 billion UAH for the provision of micro-grants for the creation or development of one’s own business.
