In Ukraine, pensions will be increased once again by the end of the year, and heroine mothers who receive pension supplements for their status may receive another payment. We are talking about those whose husband died in the war – in this case, the woman will receive both her own allowance for special services to Ukraine and the allowance for the services of her husband who died defending our country.
The relevant draft law No. 8123 was previously considered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and recommended for voting.
A mother-heroine in Ukraine is considered a woman who raised at least five or more children up to the age of 8. It is also about adopted children.
Mother-heroines, whose husbands died at the front, are also provided with a supplement to the pension for the merits of the deceased breadwinner. However, according to the current legislation, citizens are paid only one pension supplement. At the same time, they can choose which allowance is more profitable for them.
The authors of the draft law propose to cancel this restriction and allow heroine mothers who lost their husbands in the war to receive two allowances at once for special services to Ukraine.
Currently, the amount of pensions (surcharges) for special merits is from 20 to 40% of the subsistence minimum (from December 1 – from 418 to 837 hryvnias). This allowance is paid monthly in addition to the basic pension. If draft law No. 8123 is adopted, this category of women will be entitled to two allowances at once, in which case their additional pension may increase by more than a thousand hryvnias.
