Changes in the granting of social leave: what does the new bill provide?

On the VRU website, a group of people’s deputies registered draft law No. 9018 on amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine in the field of social leave. According to the explanatory note to the draft law, it is planned to ensure the individual right of each of the child’s parents to receive social leave without hindrance.

Bill No. 9018 proposes:

– define the terms “single mother”, “single father”;

– ensure that the child’s mother and father are granted leave to care for the child until the child reaches the age of three. Such leave can be used by parents at the same time, while the duration of both parents’ simultaneous stay on leave cannot exceed 4 months out of a total three-year period;

– establish that if the child needs home care, the child’s mother or father must be granted unpaid leave for the duration specified in the medical report, but no longer than until the child reaches the age of eight.
