WHAT RIGHTS DO MINOR WORKERS HAVE?

Working children have the same rights as adults, and in the field of labor protection, working hours, vacations and some other working conditions, they enjoy benefits established by the legislation of Ukraine.

When children are hired, a written employment contract must be concluded with them.

The duration of children’s work depends on their age. For children aged 16 to 18 – 36 hours per week, for children aged 15 to 16 (students aged 14 to 15 who work during the holidays) – 24 hours per week.

Each enterprise, institution, organization must keep a special record of employees who have not reached the age of eighteen, indicating their date of birth.

The use of child labor in heavy work and in work with harmful or dangerous working conditions, as well as in underground work, is prohibited.

It is forbidden to involve children in lifting and moving things, the mass of which exceeds the limits set for them.

All children are accepted for work only after a preliminary medical examination and in the future, until they reach the age of 21, they are subject to a mandatory medical examination every year.

It is forbidden to involve children in night, overtime and weekend work.

For children, the production standards are established based on the production standards for adult workers in proportion to the reduced working time for children.

Wages for children with a reduced duration of daily work are paid in the same amount as for adult workers with a full duration of working hours.

Annual vacations for children are provided at a time convenient for them, lasting 31 calendar days.
