New Handbook for Ukrainian Universities: Adapting European Experience in Sustainable Development and Inclusion within the Jean Monnet Module Project

As part of the Jean Monnet Module project “Transparency. Accountability. Responsibility. Governance. Europe. Trust. Sustainability” (TARGETS), funded by the Erasmus+ programme (grant number 101085395–TARGETS–ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH), a methodological handbook for Ukrainian universities has been developed: “Aggregation of Best Practices of EU Higher Education Institutions in the Field of Sustainable Development Strategy and Inclusion Ranking for Ukrainian Higher Education Institutions.”

Higher education institutions play a key role in addressing global sustainable development challenges by integrating the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into their educational, research, and outreach missions. The handbook presents an analysis of best European practices, recommendations for developing sustainability strategies, and an adapted inclusion ranking that enables Ukrainian universities to assess and enhance their level of social responsibility.

The development of the handbook was made possible through the efforts of an interdisciplinary team of researchers and practitioners involved in the implementation of the TARGETS project, aimed at deepening the European integration processes in Ukraine’s higher education sector, including Dr. Inna Oleksandrivna Makarenko, Professor of Economics, and Dr. Denys Olehovych Smolennikov, Associate Professor of Economics.
