Continuation of virtual classes “EU-Ukraine best practice towards SDGs progress” were held as part of the implementation of the Jean Monet Erasmus project

On May 10, 2023, the third virtual classes “EU-Ukraine best practice towards SDGs progress” were held at the Department of Accounting and Taxation of Sumy State University within the framework of the Jean Monet module project “Transparency. Accountability. Responsibility. Governance. Europe. Trust. Sustainability” financed by the Erasmus+ program (101085395– TARGETS – ERASMUS-JMO-2022-HEI-TCH-RSCH).  The event was devoted to a comparative analysis of the EU and Ukraine on the preparation of reports on sustainable development using the example of mining and oil refining companies.

Speakers were lecturers of the Department of Accounting and Taxation, Dr. of Sc., associate professor Makarenko Inna, Ph.D., associate professor Serpeninova Yuliya, Ph.D., senior lecturer Oleksich Zhanna More than 60 scientists and business representatives, students and post-graduate students from Ukraine and the EU joined as listeners, including bachelors, masters and post-graduate students majoring in “Accounting and Taxation”.

During the event, the peculiarities of the activities of mining companies in Europe and Ukraine, the problems of greenwashing and the existing standards and practices of reporting on sustainable development for this sector of activity were considered. A comparison of the disclosure of the environmental aspect in the non-financial reports of mining companies of the EU and Ukraine caused special interest and discussion.
