On November 11, 2022, within the framework of cooperation CIMA (Chartered Institute of Management Accountants), Great Britain, lecturers of the Department of Accounting and Taxation took part in a seminar on the topic “Demystification of ESG”.
As more companies focus on environmental social and governance (ESG) initiatives, accounting and reporting practices related to ESG are becoming increasingly important.
During the seminar, the lecturers of the department had the opportunity to get acquainted with useful information, in particular: Joseph Maslot CPA, CGMA, Associate Director – Exams Team, AICPA – provided statistical data of surveys among teachers and students within the framework of the CPA Evolution Initiative, which was conducted to recognize the rapidly changing skills and competencies the practice of accounting requires today and will require in the future. Brigitte Muehlmann, CPA, Ph.D., Professor of Accounting of Babson College – shared her model for integrating ESG into the educational process. Corrine Dougherty, CPA, Partner, KPMG – shared a practitioner’s perspective on the topic and provided an analysis of the research that can be used in accounting classes.
Each participant-lecturer received a certificate of 1.5 credits at the end of the seminar.
